I tested the first frame on a few people before I finished the dialogue. Originally, I intended for Nikki not to mention the microwave and let the onomatopoetic "DING!" speak for itself. Unfortunately, most people I asked associated a doorbell with the sound instead of a microwave, so I relented and ensured that the comic doesn't discriminate against those with different sound associations.
